The First One

Yes, it’s a Friends reference. But it’s fitting, no?

I’ve never had a blog before. Unless you count LiveJournal, which was… well, exactly what it sounds like. It was literally an online journal—a diary, if you will— suitable for virtually storing all forms of teen angst, venting, describing secret crushes (which were now no longer a secret), testing out your poetry and/or song-writing skills, complaining about your parents (because they didn’t know how to Internet, so how would they know to check your LJ for all the dirt you were definitely spilling about them?) And best of all, you had like 12 whole templates to choose from, so it was totally you. And, as I was obsessed with Beauty and the Beast in those days, mine was chock full of BATB references, photos, and quotes. I thought I was so cool and emotionally advanced—anyone else have an LJ back in the day (because only those of us who were serious about LiveJournal called it that)? I vividly remember a group of maybe 3 or 4 of us in high school that would literally talk about our LJs like they were this secret, shared source of knowledge that only we knew about. OMG WE WERE SUCH NERDS. (On the plus side, a boy that I was really into back in then once wrote a sweet poem about me on his LJ, so there’s that.)

Anywho, I steered clear of blogs for a good long while after that phase— not to say that I didn’t journal, but I definitely didn’t make any of that ish public.

So now there’s this. It’s new (and a bit alarming— see what I did there?) and weird, but we’ll see where it goes. I don’t know if anyone will really read it or find it entertaining or helpful, but here I am anyway. So if you’re here, hi! You’re a peach of a human for being here at the beginning of whatever this is, and chances are, you’re either my family or my student, so I already love you. Thanks for reading!

xoxo
